| Question: |
How
would you say the band is progressing so far? |
| Williams: |
I
think things are going real well. I'm just trying to take everything one
step at a time. I try to take every rehearsal and rate it (first
division, second division). If you don't look too far ahead, you're
okay. I think we're right about where we need to be.
|
| Question: |
What
would your rate the band as, right now? |
| Williams: |
I
think it's just been superior, which would be first division. The
attitude for the most part, 90%, is just great, everybody's
excited...change has been good, I've been excited to be here, it's just
been super.
|
| Question: |
What
do you see in this band that you didn't see at New Diana? |
| Williams: |
A
couple of big things that I've noticed, positively, would be the fact
that this band is 9-12th grades, making it a lot easier for me. The
level of the individual players is really a quality standard.
|
| Question: |
What
makes it so elating for you to come to Pine Tree? |
| Williams: |
When
I was a kid growing up in Longview, the two schools around here were
Longview and Pine Tree. Longview and Pine Tree were really and truly
arch rivals. And when I was in the Longview band, our number one
competition was the Pine Tree Band. And from the outside looking in,
Pine Tree is just an elite program.
|
| Question: |
What's
your idea of a perfect band? |
| Williams: |
Oh,
man, that's a good one...I almost had a perfect band one time, and it
was a band that played with the enthusiasm, they came everyday, and they
changed my thoughts on teaching. The excitement that everyone sees in my
teaching was taught to e by these 2A band. They taught things like being
excited about coming. So the perfect band to me would be one that had
quality musicians in it, it couldn't matter the number, but just the
quality of the students. |
